A young and talented singer, Ankit Tiwari took the Indian music industry by storm. He is the voice behind various super-duper hits like Sunn Raha Hai, Kaisa Hai Dard Mera, Kuch Toh Hua Hai, Galliyan, Sanam Teri Kasam, Mat Ja Re, etc.
Born on 6 March 1990 in Kanpur, Ankit always had his musical priorities straight. Though his mother, who is a devotional singer, had a flair for singing, it is only Ankit Tiwari in the family who went ahead to make a career in Indian music industry. His parents RK Tiwari and Suman Tiwari own a music troupe called ‘Raju Suman and Party’, which performs at religious occasions.

Honing his skills in music, Ankit Tiwari took professional training in classical music by Vinod Kumar Dwivedi. Later, he pursued professional training in piano, Dhrupad and Western vocals. His talent fetched him several awards in local music competitions during his days in Kanpur.
Tryst with Bombay started when singer Ankit Tiwari met adman, and Bollywood director Pradeep Sarkar, who gave him a chance to work on jingles. Ankit started composing background music for various television programmes.It was when he met Habib Faisal that he got the chance to compose the music for Faisal’s directorial debut film Do Dooni Chaar (2010). Later, he lent his voice to the film Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster in 2011, making his singing debut with the song ‘Saheb Bada Hathila’. He broke all records with his next release Sunn Raha Hai from Aashiqui 2 (2013).
Since then, Ankit Tiawri has never looked backed. He composed back to back super-hit songs for a number of movies. Talking about his experience in the Bollywood music industry during an interview, the artiste said, “I was an introvert, but you meet and speak to people and understanding how important networking is. I’ve learnt all this, being a part of the industry. I’m very thankful for everything I have learnt today.”
Turning point to career
He added, “So far, the experiences have been great. Things changed after Aashiqui 2. Sun RahaHai Na Tu was the turning point in my career. Then I sang a song for a film called Samrat & Company, which wasn’t a hit. But then came Ek Villain and Roy, and fortunately, since then, there has been no looking back.”
