Tom Brady is Back
Covering the impact of coronavirus on the sports world
The 2022 NFL offseason has already been chock-full of headlining moves. Tom Brady scrapped his retirement plans and will return to the Buccaneers for his age-45 season. Aaron Rodgers announced his return to the Packers. The Broncos reportedly agreed to a blockbuster deal to land Seahawks great Russell Wilson. The Colts agreed to deal Carson Wentz to the Commanders after just one season together. The Chargers reportedly struck a deal for Bears star Khalil Mack. And that was all before free agency! But now the official offseason is finally upon us, with the NFL’s legal tampering period opening Monday, and free agency following on Wednesday.
Starting at 12 p.m. ET on Monday, all veteran free agents are free to negotiate with other teams. Starting at 4 p.m. ET Wednesday, all signings and trades can officially be finalized. Suffice to say, it’s about to get wild, with dozens of big names still available (check out where Pete Prisco’s top 100 free agents have landed here).
As the action unfolds, keep it locked right here at CBS Sports for live updates, news and rumors:

Giants are finally on the board after agreeing to terms with Colts guard Mark Glowinski.
Mason Cole signing an interesting one for Steelers. He’s their first non-in-house O-lineman free agent this offseason. But certainly not a big name.

Big loss for the Bengals with Uzomah heading to New York. Was a big leader in the locker room as well as a solid tight end. He will be missed in Cincinnati.

Nice contract for Okorafor:
Steelers are giving their right tackle Chukwuma Okorafor a three-year, $29.25 million deal, including $20.5 million in first two years, per source.

At this point, two things are certain with Watson: he IS meeting with the Saints and Panthers and he won’t be playing for the Colts in 2022.
There are some conflicting reports as it relates to Deshaun Watson. Longtime Houston beat reporter John McClain is reporting that Watson rejected every team meeting sans Carolina and New Orleans. Josina Anderson is reporting that Watson will speak with Carolina and New Orleans tonight and plans to speak with more teams tomorrow.

Houston not allowing Watson to play within the division. This shows that they’ve not only drawn a line in the sand with regard to Watson, but they clearly have a market for him if they’re turning down potential deals.

Evan Engram to the Jaguars. I had a feeling he would wind up there.

Steelers re-signing Chukwuma Okorafor, via NFL Network. He’s been a solid contributor to the Steelers’ offensive line since being drafted back in 2018.

And the Tom Brady effect is showing itself today: Carlton Davis is back, along with Ryan Jensen. It’s easy to see why Brady made his announcement last night on the eve of free agency tampering period.
Quite the offseason for the Chargers: re-sign Mike Williams, trade for LB Khalil Mack and now they acquire the top-ranked CB in free agency (J.C. Jackson).

Will be interesting to see if the Giants can unload Bradberry now with all the DB’s getting signed.
