Presidents come and get, but one constant through 10 presidencies has been Dale Haney, the chief White House groundskeeper, who, around this month, has used 50 years helping the individuals — and several of the pets — who have named the mansion home.
Haney’s primary duty would be to take care of the substantial lawns, colorful rose gardens, a huge selection of trees, tens of thousands of shrubs, and a burgeoning vegetable yard on 18 miles of property encompassing the White House. A TWO-YEAR PLAN

He’s a member of the operations team — the scores of housekeepers, butlers, electricians, carpenters, gardeners, and others — who aren’t involved in the policy or politics. Their job is to keep the place running and look after the families. Many have maintained their jobs for decades.
“It’s a distinctive role within the White House,” said McBride, who had undergone Haney again when she delivered to benefit Presidents George H.W. Bush and, later, for his son.
