It was a milestone opening.
Conrad Shanghai welcomes guests to its 728-room, 66-story hotel. It is located in the prestigious tourism district People’s Square. This location is within easy reach for many of the city’s most popular attractions. This launch is a significant achievement for Hilton Worldwide, and it further strengthens the company’s partnership with Shimao Hotel Management Group, which owns the property.
“We are delighted to continue our strong luxury growth in the Asia Pacific by launching the first Conrad Shanghai. This joins our 17 luxury hotels throughout Greater China, with ten more under construction,” stated Alan Watts, president of Asia Pacific, Hilton.
“Our growth momentum is a testament to the strength and resilience of Hilton’s award-winning luxury brands in a dynamic market with sophisticated customer expectations.” It is also a testament to our ability to deliver to our partners and 11 trading hotels with Shimao Hotel Management Group, who share our optimism about China’s luxury travel segment.
Tyrone Tang, Chairman and CEO of Shanghai Shimao Hotel Management Company, and CEO Shimao Star Hotels Group, added: “We are proud of the success of our longstanding relationship with Hilton by bringing about the second Conrad Hotels & Resorts property. Conrad Shanghai’s landmark opening today celebrates our accomplishment in our journey together. It is also a new chapter in the history of Shimao Festival City, which reaffirms its status as the most sought-after address in the city.
Modern design and local tradition fused.
Inspiration from Chinese traditions is used throughout the hotel’s elegant design to help create a sense that it is in a place. The distinctive design features include a Chinese roof cornice suspended from the lobby ceiling, traditional calligraphy art, and a color palette that draws on the five elements.
Conrad Shanghai’s guestrooms feature smart connectivity, Byredo bath products, and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of Puxi and Bund. The 60 luxury suites include a presidential suite and the executive lounge at level 44.
There are many dining options, including those that draw from global influences such as the Mediterranean coast, Paris’ restaurants, and China’s banquets. Cocktails can be enjoyed with a stunning view from the lounge’s skyline. Events are held in a 2,500 square m space that is pillarless, which includes an 864 sqm ballroom, 13 meeting rooms, and Hu’s Penthouse on the 64th floor.
“The Conrad Shanghai’s latest addition is a shining example of how we are looking for every opportunity to bring our thoughtful hospitality and intuitive service into iconic destinations,” stated Nils-Arne Schröder, global brand head at Conrad Hotels & Resorts as well as vice president of Luxury & Lifestyle at Hilton Asia Pacific. Conrad Shanghai’s bold design and modern sensibilities, combined with our personalized service, will provide enriching experiences that will inspire luxury travelers from all over the globe.
