Osun State Police Commissioner, Olokode, the state police commissioner, has warned politicians to avoid dragging the police force into bitter politics, stating that the police force is not an apex or a part of any particular political group.
The All Progressives Congress, APC, and its faction of the party that is loyal to Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola had on Friday demanded the removal of the police commissioner on account of supporting Governor’s Adegboyega Oyetola’s group of the party in order to deal with its members as well as not addressing the various petitions of the group.
Then again, Olokode, while addressing journalists in his office on Sunday, claimed that the police of the state had been open to all groups in the ruling party. He also said petitions are being been investigated while others are being examined.
He says, “We want to warn politicians to conduct their business without pulling their Force in. It is important to note that the Osun State Police Command is not and will never be an appendage to any political party or organization, or organization. Our conduct and efforts have proven this.
“I would like to say that we’ve been working on each petition that we receive. The most recent one to concern the SUBEB Chairman was recently brought to my attention which is why our State Criminal Investigation Department under the Deputy Commissioner is investigating it. The petitioners arrived just a few days ago and were assured that we were ready to find the cause of the issue.
“It is also necessary to mention that the recent attack on certain APC members of Ikirun the Ifelodun local government was thoroughly investigated, and those suspected of being involved in the attack were arrested.
“Among the arrested were two people from The TOP organization, one from IleriOluwa, and two people who claimed not to be any politicians. All of them were brought to the court and in no way was my agency involved in the investigation. Therefore, there was no persecution or dehumanization in any way.
“I want to add that there was no event we were invited to but could not participate in. We have attended invited events, and I’ve personally taken my men to a few of these meetings. I recall with great fondness the commissioning ceremony of computers at the Muslim Grammar School, Ilesha, on January 14 this year. The Minister for Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, who was astonished at my appearance, gave some remarks and advised the operation of our company. Another was held at Zenabab Hotel and Resorts on June 6, 2021, where the Awolowo Center for Philosophy celebrated the Minister’s birthday”.
The CP said that even though they were not aware of any meetings in the Oranmiyan House, upon being alerted of the disturbances to law and order, staff were sent at the spot to help defuse the chaos, stating that the allegations against him were just fabricated.
“I also want to affirm that all claims regarding me, the persona, and my command are bogus and are far from the truth,” He said.
