Although Dying Light 2 was limited to a cloud release on the Nintendo Switch, the first Dying Light was actually a remarkable achievement on the hybrid platform. With this in mind, the Switch version of the original game has this week received a new update.
According to the game’s official social channels, this latest update brings “tweaks, updates, and new features”. There’s even some “performance optimization” as can be seen below:
Here are the full patch notes for Version 1.0.4 (via Nintendo Everything):
The latest Nintendo Switch patch for Dying Light brings a number of tweaks, updates, and new features!
Alongside addressing various other bugs that were spoiling your fun, we took a closer look at the crashes and black screens some of you were experiencing while exploring Harran. This (and many other things) should no longer be an issue, and now you can focus entirely on slaughtering zombies!
We also optimized performance and the HD Rumble feature, so now, when you enter Harran, you may notice that your game runs smoother and your Joy-Con have an improved reaction to what’s happening on the screen for even more immersion!
But this isn’t all! Now you can complete your TechlandGG challenges on Nintendo Switch! Take up missions, finish them wherever you are, and enjoy the rewards – the challenges await!
Don’t forget to check on the Hellraid dungeon, as it’s just gotten an update too! Reworked armory, improved balancing, new bounties, and more are waiting for you!
And while you’re parkouring through Harran, don’t miss the Tolga & Fatin event happening now! The twins have a special request and… a very special reward! Make sure you pay them a visit and help progress their research!
Have you tried out the latest update for this game on the Switch yet? Notice anything else? Leave a comment down below.

Is it finally available in PAL regions?
This game is brilliant. One of my fave games for the Switch (and I’m a scardycat!)
This is up there with other great ports, like the switcher, doom, etc. A lot of devs should take notes.
Awesome game gets even better. Nice!
Such a great port! It looks amazing on my Switch OLED! I’ll definitely have to pick up a few more copies when the price goes down (local wireless play).
@Vyacheslav333 Nintendo Switch is region free. Just order it from Amazon or download it from the U.S eshop.
Finished this game recently on Xbox, it was ok I guess but yeah I’m just so bored of zombies now I won’t be bothering with the sequel. I might check it out during a Sale, we’ll see.
I started this game last night!!!
@Vyacheslav333 I’m in the UK. Got it on switch physical not problems.
glad to see that the first dying light is getting updates on Switch.
Also I am still confused as to how a cloud version of Dying Light 2 got delayed on Switch. It is a cloud version, it shouldn’t take that long.
There might be some factors or something here.
1. Techland saw how the Kingdom Hearts cloud (read TRASH) editions ran on Switch and decided to make their cloud port better.
OR
2. Techland figured out how to port Dying Light 2 natively to Switch.
OR
3. Techland decided to just cancel it
This is good news for me as my copy arrives Tuesday!
I love this game. The best Zombi game and parkour game on Switch and probably one of the best ports on the Switch. My only complaint was the Switch was never included with the seasonal events that were run on the other versions.
Nice to see this patch although I feel this will be the last one on Switch as Techland are concentrating on Dying Light 2.
@anoyonmus I would love the reason to be number 2 on your list as that would be a day one purchase for me.
If it’s is a cloud based version then I have resigned to never playing it as I refuse to pay for something I can never own.
Sadly I feel it may be number 3 🙁
Is it gonna come to the Netherlands finally? Really wanna play it with my friends.
(Making a us account isn’t an option in my opinion because then that game is connected to that account. So I need that account to download it if I ever delete it etc. Just not a sound option imo)
@Laxeybobby I would rather have Techland cancel the cloud version than HAVE a cloud version on Switch.
but who knows.
@Vyacheslav333 Only physically available, since the intended release date, it’s banned on the eshop in Germany, and that’s where NOE apparently decides what Europe gets. But the physical release is a beautiful one, with a ‘big’ cardboard box ans some extra stuff, almost exactly like the Witcher Switch physical release, and at no extra cost.
Wish wb would support mk11 as much that games crashed so many times on me on my switch
@PhhhCough I doubt all the effort that gets put into making them run on switch is really worth the investment
Always nice when a port doesn’t get the bare minimum treatment. On launch it was slightly on the rough side, but the improvements since both performance and QoL is just amazing
Now I want Skywalker legos to get patches likes these
Amazing game. Brilliant port. Fantastic support. Honestly, if you didn’t play it already on a different platform, and value portability , this is absolutely a must-have for every Switch’s library. As far AAA 3rd party ports go, I find this the best as a game/port combo (I personally hate Alien Isolation’s severe deadzone and input lag, I know others don’t mind, too bad)
@MPWolfie you can get it physical, with full EFIGS+ support, one and done. You don’t need a region-specific account to get patches. But just because I’m curious , what would be the problem about having a US specific account? And when you delete a game, you can archive it (the icon stays) and then you’re just a click away from redownloading, whatever account you’re currently using. I’ve done since 2017, changed 3 Switches, no issues whatsoever.
@Would_you_kindly Yeah MK11 is the only game a regret buying on my switch besides BoTW, just an ugly mess and then having to use NSOs online “service” is just a pain with the near constant disconnects.
@SteamEngenius I think the standard story mode is decent apart from the crashes the krypt mode looks & runs like 💩 though
@DashKappei thanks for the reply, first issue is that I only want digital downloads. I like to have all my games digitally on the Switch so I don’t want a single physical game. Second, my issue with the separate us account is that I have a second account that has e-mailadres and passwords etc that I need to keep track off. Plus (maybe a little OCD) but then I have all my games attached to my main account except for this one game. And that just personally bothers me even tho it won’t make a physical difference. Plus the thought of that game getting lost somehow because it’s not as closely accessible as the games from my main account.
Tldr; I’m too stubborn and picky to do it this way haha.
Also. The game is unavailable because of some laws in Germany against the violence in the game or something. Even tho games like the Witcher and Doom are just ripe for the picking. So it doesn’t seem like a hard fight to get the game available.
@Would_you_kindly the witcher III sold an additional 700k copies on the switch in 2019 alone. That’s an additional $45m. Doubt the "effort to get them to run" on the switch costs them anywhere near $45m.
@anoyonmus Can’t see a native port happening, the game is very demanding and has way more going on then DL1 has. It would take a massive downgrade and i don’t think that would be worth it as the best thing about it is the big dense packed world.
Since the game isn’t available in Europe, if I get the physical version, I won’t get the update?
@dojmin You will still get the update, they aren’t region locked.
Dying Light was the first good open world zombie game that did it right. I got this on day one for PS4 and loved every bit of it. Helped me get through some ***** room mate situations back then.
@ivory_soul What, you bashed in zombie brains instead of your room mates?
