After a week of openly exploring a campaign for the U.S. Senate, Vikram Mansharamani is joining the race.
The Lincoln investor and entrepreneur is jumping into the GOP primary, saying in a statement released by his campaign he never thought he would be running for office.
“My decision to run is a deeply personal one,” Mansharamani said. “It started when my wife and I were trying to have a say in our daughter’s education. The ‘experts’ told us they knew best – better than we did as her parents.”
Mansharamani’s campaign describes him as “an economist, author, teacher and commentator” and “the son of two working-class immigrants.”
The Republican contest to take on incumbent Sen. Maggie Hassan, D-New Hampshire, in the fall already features several candidates, including state Sen. Chuck Morse, former Londonderry Town Manager Kevin Smith, retired Army Gen. Don Bolduc, and cryptocurrency pioneer Bruce Fenton.
