Android Apps & Games / New Update For Facebook Brings A New Shortcut To Its Messenger App
Facebook Messenger has gone through multiple changes over the years, only to facilitate communication between people. Now, in a new update, Meta-owned Facebook is rolling out a new shortcut feature for its Messenger app.
While other instant messaging apps are going past adding new features to attract users to use their apps, Facebook Messenger also doesn’t want to be left behind.
According to an official post, Meta has announced that the Messenger app is getting shortcuts. This is something similar to what you might have seen with another communication app called Slack.
The whole purpose of introducing Messenger shortcuts is to increase efficiency and add more fun to the chat app. Notably, there should be two shortcuts available for the users on iOS or Android phones.
They are known as @everyone and /silent. The @everyone is aimed to call all of your friends in a group at once or bring the attention of all group members.
You can also enter the /silent shortcut (which is available on Instagram as @silent), where the members of the group will not receive a notification of your message at all.
But that’s not all. Facebook has multiple other plans involving shortcuts. Meta basically wants to add even more shortcuts to the Facebook Messenger app.
The company is planning to add /Pay shortcut, which will be arriving pretty soon. Sadly, this will be limited to Messenger users in the United States.
Apparently, this will make it easy to send or receive money in Messenger chats. It could be pretty handy and useful for users who do not make use of apps such as Paypal or Venmo.
Moreover, iOS users will be getting an exclusive shortcut. It is the /gif shortcut, making it easier for users to find a GIF for their chats.
The iOS users are getting something more. If you have an iPhone or use Facebook Messenger, you can also use the /shrug and /tableflip shortcuts.
These two shortcuts will negate the need to type out or copy and paste the two emojis. The post also states that more shortcuts will be coming soon to the Messenger app, but it doesn’t specify which ones.
If you are not able to use the new shortcuts, then we would advise you to head over to the App Store on iOS or the Play Store on Android and update the Facebook Messenger app.
