After we had published our editorial on the athletics scene in Harlow, We then put forward several concerns for the Harlow MP.
Robert Halfon, MP for Harlow Robert Halfon, Harlow MP, declared: ” I am happy with the editorial that focuses on the importance of sports, athletics, and money in Harlow. Editor of YourHarlow.com rightly highlights the proud past that Harlow is a top place to produce athletes and an active amateur sports scene.
“I’ve been working hard during my time as an MP to get more funds and support to our club. This includes in recent years PS1.3 million to improve facilities at the club through Sport England, a potential investment of PS1.3 million from the Football Foundation into football pitches and facilities, approximately PS3 million for recreation and sports from local authorities and PS1 million to support school sports the coming year at Harlow.
I’m delighted. I’m happy Harlow Council last year refunded all amateur football clubs their fees for pitches during the outbreak. In their budget, they announced significant investments in the town’s sports facilities, including football pitches and multi-use sports courts.
“I am also advocating in the Parliament for more time during school hours and not just for long hours in school, but instead for the arts, music, and sports activities that will help tackle many of the issues raised within the editorial. Ich will fight for this throughout the Parliament to ensure that our children play as many school sports as feasible. The government announced the creation of a PS5 billion catch-up fund that I fought for with enthusiasm – I’d like to invest in this field.”
Last but not least, I would like to acknowledge all the sports clubs and associations in Harlow, which include a lot of which I’ve had the pleasure of visiting during my time as an MP and also for the fantastic efforts they put into supporting youngsters and children across the community in their sports activities.”
