It’s a great time to be part of the retail scene of Tampa Bay.
The soaring commercial real estate demand recently was “shocking,” said Paul Rutledge, the Tampa executive vice-president of the commercial real estate company JLL. Retailers from outside the state are trying to open a store in Tampa.
“Any reliable retailer that has the potential to open can start the doors in Florida,” Rutledge said.
There’s plenty to choose from fresh restaurants to intriguing retail stores and wellness brands in 2022. Here’s a look into some coming openings to Tampa Bay’s shopping destinations this year.
Water Street Tampa and Sparkman Wharf
Downtown Tampa development, spearheaded by Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Bill Gates’s Cascade Investment, continues to expand its downtown corridor. The city is hoping to become the first “city within an urban area” focused on health and wellness. The Publix Greenwise market began operations in August, and numerous fitness centers are scheduled for the coming year.
More office and apartment towers come online before Water Street’s big opening date in 2022. residents will see more stores too. Representatives from Vinik’s property company, Strategic Property Partners, did not give opening times.
Chill Bros. Scoop Shop
The Tampa-based ice cream business is expanding its portfolio of shops located in Ybor City, SoHo, and South Tampa. Utilizing Florida the cream and milk, Chill Bros. creates local flavors such as Guava Pastelito, Cafe con Leche chunk Orange Dreamsicle, and Tampa Banana.

Small Giant Bar & Restaurant and Wine on the Water
Two restaurant concepts from Jennifer Bingham and Torrey Bingham, who founded the Tampa-based Cru Hospitality Group, will be located on the ground floor of the Cora Apartment Towers. Small Giant Bar and Restaurant will offer cocktail cocktails, craft beer, and Ohio-style pizza.
Wine on Water will have more than 500 liquor and wine, typically small production wines. The wine bar will offer tasting classes and will feature an outside garden.

Naked Farmer
Next year, this Tampa Bay fast-casual restaurant is opening a new location on Water Street Tampa. However, it was initially planned for this fall along with its Sparkman Wharf restaurant. The company owners said they have plans for expanding Naked Farmer across Florida. As per Naked Farmer’s site, the company’s products are sourced locally, and customers can make seasonal bowls using food items and proteins.

Orangetheory Fitness
Fitness studios are a franchise based in Boca Raton known for the total-body group exercises that incorporate cardio, rowing, and resistance training. Orangetheory Fitness uses data from monitors to monitor heart rate in real-time. Users can also track their progress on the app for their gym. Orangetheory Fitness also has another branch near the Pierhouse in Channelside.

3 Corners
The Corners used to be located at Sparkman Wharf and was known for its Detroit-style pizza, which has a pan-like crust cut into squares and served with tomato sauce on top of the cheese. The Corners will soon be a restaurant on the ground floor and a full bar in Tampa.

Wagamama
Wagamama, which was in the spirit of Japanese Ramen bars, is opening their first Florida restaurant in Tampa. The menu will include wraps and ramen, curry, noodles, and rice, known as donburi and Teppanyaki. Other menu items include Gyoza, Korean wings, bao buns, tuna tataki and bao.

Shortwave Coffee
The coffee shop, cafe, and cafe are located in Columbia, Missouri. It’s new to Tampa it will eventually be situated within Sparkman Wharf. It offers coffee, breakfast, lunch, and desserts.

Noble Rice
The contemporary Japanese restaurant is famous for bringing in fresh ingredients from Japan’s famed Toyosu Market every week. The initial Hyde Park Tampa location closed in the middle of the epidemic and was later transformed to become Koya, a tasting menu-only restaurant. However, Noble Rice is expected to reopen in the Sparkman Wharf in 2022, with 100 seats inside and outside.

BodyRock, along with The Cover
The two wellness stores are making their Florida debut at Sparkman Wharf. Bodyrock is located in a “high-intensity” Pilates studio that offers 45 minutes of full-body cardio and strength training classes using custom-designed equipment.
The cover is a wellness and self-care center that offers treatments like IV infusions, cryotherapy treatment with hyperbaric oxygen, balance pro-infused saunas, salt-infused saunas, Hydrafacials, Cryoskin, and many more.

MIDTOWN TAMPA
This mixed-use dining, retail office, and living real estate development has been busy this year. In March, the first retail store to be established in the district was REI Co-op’s initial Tampa Bay store. Other stores that opened included Shake Shack, a Whole Foods supermarket, and the principal cafe of Disney-World, the largest caffeine provider Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea. The next round of openings is expected in the coming year.
Casper Mattress
The mattress retailer based within New York City is opening in Tampa this year. According to Midtown Tampa spokesperson Margie Martin, it will be the largest store with 3,500 square feet. This is the company’s debut West Florida location. Shoppers can also take 30 minutes of “nap time slots” to try out the mattresses as well as pillows.

Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream
Are you ready to enjoy the taste of Strawberry Cheesecake or Phish Food? Ben and Jerry’s scoop stores will be returning for the first time to Tampa Bay. One will be scheduled to open in Midtown Tampa, and another will be opening at Clearwater Beach over Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. Both will be among the few black-owned Ben and Jerry’s franchises in the U.S.

Royal Pets Market & Resort
In addition to its stock of pet items, Royal Pets Market and Resort will also offer grooming and veterinary services and a daycare facility for cats and dogs.

In the area from Belleair Bluffs to Tampa: William Dean Chocolates is opening its second store. The gourmet chocolatier in the area brings sweet delights to the bay in a Parisian-inspired cafe offering breakfast, lunch, and lots of dessert.

The Bio station
The station is located across South Florida and is now being brought to Tampa. It offers a complete approach to health and aging by tests for diagnostics. The clinic will also provide treatments and therapies for men or the sexual well-being of women.

Tipsy Salonbar
It’s exactly what it says A salon that offers hair manicures, manicures, and pedicures as well as eyelash extensions, with bars that serve wine and beers. According to its website, the company is expanding its business with 10 locations throughout Florida, including Midtown.

Kale Me Crazy
Avocado toast, anyone? Kale Me Crazy calls itself a “superfood” cafe, providing healthy products such as smoothies, wraps, salads, and juices for cleansing. According to their website, it makes use of organic and fresh ingredients.

Ponte Tampa
A Tampa Bay’s best-known chef, Chris Ponte, is returning with a new restaurant. Cafe Ponte closed in 2020 due to lease negotiations failing in the pandemic. Ponte announced in a press release from the year 2019 that Ponte Tampa’s American menu is inspired by French and Italian cuisines and will be comparable in style to Cafe Ponte. The chef is also behind two Tampa restaurant chains: Olivia and On Swann, located in Hyde Park Village.

Buff City Soap
Bath bombs, hand soaps, and laundry soaps will be created before customers in their faces. They’ll be made with natural ingredients free of harsh chemicals, per the company’s statement. The store’s scents include black cherry vanilla, raspberry fresh laundry lavender tobacco bay leaf, unicorns, and much more.

True Food Kitchen
Another health-focused restaurant is set to open within Midtown Tampa — and Oprah Winfrey is backing it. True Food Kitchen has locations in 17 states, and this is the first of them located in Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay area. It serves vegan cheeseburgers sushi that is gluten-free, poi bowls, Edamame guacamole with teriyaki, e and much more.

Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux
Walking-On’s Sports Bistreaux is based in Baton Rouge and brings Louisiana-inspired drinks and food to Midtown. The bar was started by the former LSU Basketball player Brandon Landry in 2003, and former NFL player Drew Brees became a co-owner in 2015. There are items like catfish, berry pecan salad noodles, “alfredeaux,” shrimp, and the grits, along with Mardi Gras Mahi.

Hyde Park Village, Tampa

Hyde Park Village is experiencing revival following the pandemic. Sephora was opened this year, as did the boutique of the singer Jessie James Decker, an unusual scoop-shop OddFellows Ice Cream Co., and the Nike Live concept store. There’s more to be revealed.
Bouzy is a product of Cru Cellars.
Bouzy is named for Bouzy, a French vineyard village located in the Champagne region. Those who visit this brand new Tampa wine bar may anticipate food and drinks that revolve around the bubbly drink. Also, there will be small plates, craft cocktails, and pet-nats, which is a naturally sparkling variety of wine. Bartenders will be trained as sommeliers, as per a press release by Hyde Park Village, and can assist customers in choosing from the selection.
Warby Parker
The eyeglass retailer in New York has been selling sunglasses, glasses, and contact lenses mostly on the internet. However, the company has opened stores within Tampa’s Oxford Exchange and International Plaza. Soon, it’ll be coming to Hyde Park Village. As per Warby Parker’s site, the shop doesn’t offer eye exams.

Barry’s
Barry’s Studio, which has multiple locations around the world. It is also new to Tampa. It is a high-intensity interval training and strengthening exercise. The Studio schedule can be designed to concentrate on an individual body part every day.

Public Studio
Hyde House Public Studio, the venue for events and coworking that was opened in 2019, is growing. The venue will open the first professional film and photography studio, an art gallery, an event space, and coworking spaces. Public Studio will have a Content agency specializing in digital content for hire.

Westshore District Marina

The land around Gandy Bridge in Tampa is becoming more vibrant with new openings. It was once an industrial zone. The 53 acres of waterfront land with a view of the bay has become a retail and living destination in the area under the management of BTI Partners.
Marina Landings and its town center were opened this year, with Sand Surf Co. surf shop, Duckweed Urban Grocery, and Cru Cellars wine bar. Next year will be a busy year with Marina Landings, with several more openings scheduled for the coming year.
